Budgets and Costs

We suggest that potential clients consider the following ball park ranges for their projects. However, these rates are not definitive and if you'd like to get a better idea, feel free to contact us at anytime to receive a quote.

  • $5,000 + for personal digital projects
  • $6,000 + for commercial digital projects

Rush Work: Our team happily provides rush and emergency work at 150% to 400% of your standard rate, depending on the nature and time of the request. Please contact us at our emergency hotline e-mail to receive an immediate response.

Note: From time to time Blog What? Design accepts pro bono projects on a limited basis as a way to give back to the community.

The Payment Process

Most projects require a 40% to 50% retainer payment based on the initial quote total before our team may begin. The invoices that follow are calculated by the number of hours logged by our team from the previous week, multiplied by the hourly rate detailed in your contract. Our estimates are generally spot on, and although it's something we work hard to avoid, we'll be sure to notify you well in advance if one of our team members finds the project to be running under or over budget.

Keeping Costs Down

We're only satisfied if our clients are satisfied, so here are some tips to keep your quoted costs down whether with our company or any other you may end up choosing.

  1. If there is a relatively large amount of copy that needs to be written, and you're certain that a member of your team will be producing this copy, decide who will provide it at the earliest date possible. The same is true for any photos or brand-specific graphics that must be collected before the design of your digital project begins.
  2. Read over the details of your contract thoroughly with your project manager to avoid any surprises in the future.
  3. Speak up! If you're uncertain about a certain element, don't be afraid to let us know as soon as possible so that we can provide you with a great final product.
